We headed to Michelles workplace... Industrial Light and Magic (ILM)... for those of you who haven't heard.. this is the world leading special effects house for all the big blockbuster movies we've all come to love over the years. This is the Special effects house which was started by George Lucas for his Star Wars Movies, and has gone on to be used for hundreds of films like the recent movie trilogy Pirates of the Caribean. So we got to get a tour of the facility, a rare and unique treat... you can't just walk in off the street to get one. I was like giddy as a school boy.

From the front entrance, which alone had so much stuff, including the Yoda Fountain and Darth Vader statue, Boba Fett statue and a wide range of murchandise we headed deeper into ILM.
We came across other movie memorabilia, including Han Solo in carbonite and R2-D2.

So once we were inside we had a good look around and saw some artifacts from Pirates of the Carribean, and Ghostbusters and heaps of movies. Before we went in we had to sign a disclaimer to say that we wouldn't reveal anything about what we saw in the actual work stations.. obviously what I have shown you is from public places... Michelle took us through her department and she showed us where she worked and what she did and of course a few exciting things we can't mention... Michelle is a digital rotoscope artist and she removes elements from frames and does all wonderful other things, what she showed us was so cool. Plus we met other members of her team. It was great fun.

Then from here we visited the ILM store and purchased a few things... so cool. Don't worry Richard I got you a shirt!
From here we left ILM and headed across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County, where we visited the Skywalker Ranch... this was so cool. The main headquarters for Lucas Film. While we were here we had a delicious lunch on the Skywalker Verandah and checked out the main house of the Ranch. Which we weren't alllowed to take photos in. Here was all the awards George had won. Also it had original artifacts from Indiana Jones, like his whip and Fedora, plus the actual grail cup from the Last Crusade.. we saw it all.
Then from here we went to Skywalker Sound and took some pictures. then finished off our trip at Skywalker Ranch with another trip to the merchandise shop.
Thanks so much Michelle for a trip of a life time.
